Start here — Your first signal
On your phone ·
From the heart button to a sent signal: pick Open or a brand, say what you want in a short private chat, set how much content a day, and read the exact search before it runs.
0:00 How to create a signal in Profila. Tap on the heart button, tap signal, choose a brand or an open search on the web. I'm going for open. This is a personal request. You can save for business or for personal. Is it for me or someone else? And then you choose a country. I want to travel to Greece, so let's choose Greece. Okay, and what are you looking for?
0:30 A holiday in October. Now this is a basic chat with a very simple private AI. So: Greece, a beach area, three adults — or you can summarise at any time.
1:11 Maybe I can carry on for two or three threads, four threads, until you're happy with a meaningful summary. And then once you get your summary, you can continue. And what you do here is select how many pieces of content you want today. So let's go for five. You can say whether it's for offers, recommendations, or information. I'm looking for offers, and when do I want to go? I want to go now. And then this is a summary which just shows you the exact intent and signal that you've created. We can also show you the technical data because we're not hiding anything, and it's truly private,
1:44 and only the intent gets shared with the internet. Send a signal. What happens at this stage is it now is connected to two different search engines, privately, Brave, and Exa. One's an agentic, one's a traditional search, and we go and we harvest the best content on the web for you. So you won't get hundreds and hundreds of listed items. You'll get only what you're looking for, and no more. You can actually go and look at your intents, so mine is created, and it's busy searching at the moment. And I'll show you briefly what an older one looks like.
2:16 What is great, though, is if you've made an intent for any subject, I heard something interesting on a radio station, and I searched for it, and now I've got pieces of information coming through every day about that radio station. So it can be a simple intent right through to a business intent. If I go here and I filter on business, the customer is looking for AI products or a new Dell. So I was looking here for AI software and hardware, and then I'm getting offers for Dell equipment in Switzerland for my business.
2:50 So let's go back and see about our latest content. We can close that. And we go to all, and we go here. This is our signal that we just created. And as I mentioned, it takes a short period of time for it to go fetch from the web. And let's go to the top, and there we go, traveling Greece. So a little bit of a wait, but for quality. So it's like we say in restaurants, if you can afford the wait, the food is normally better. Thank you.
Brands — The brands you choose
On your phone ·
When a connected brand has something for you, the rest of the feed dims and it gets the stage. Then back to discovery — grade a match, or end a signal and its content stops.
0:01 It's cool for brands on the platform so people can explore content and a lot of it You'll be surprised at how a few Pieces of content a day per subject comes through but in the feed all of a sudden we get something different Everything fades to black around side and brands that are on the platform get the stage and they can also personalize here There's two seats at the pass available for special guests who have connected to that brand and shared an intent without personal data
0:34 That they love their services and they would love to attend You can also go deeper and the brand in this case a restaurant can share the menu and give exclusive insights to you as a very good guest To that brand on the platform and then you go back to your normal content and again everything in this feed Is either what you've searched or in this case as an automotive brand These are mock-up brands, but it shows the experience for a real brand how you can build a very clear and dedicated
1:08 Relationship with each customer on the platform then when you get back to normal discovery You can also do one or two other cool things is you can tell the platform and train the platform That was this piece of content good or not. So yes I like the brand and this was a good match to my signal or at any stage if it's not serving me — like Yahoo Sports here — I was investigating the Sports Club for another contact and friend of mine You can end the signal is ended and then it stops the flow of that content at any stage
1:40 So there we go. Very simple experience, but all about you Nothing in this feed and a lot of content is in the feed But nothing in this feed is not linked to a signal that you created So it's all about you and it's yours
On desktop ·
Every brand you vote for or connect to, in one list. Vote a brand in and say what you are to them; open one and read the whole history between you; archive it to pause access.
0:00 So what is a relationship on Profila? First of all, when you're searching for content through signals and you're viewing content in the channel feed, every time you've selected a brand, we put it into your voted list because you like that brand and you want more information about them. What we then do as Profila, we reach out to these companies and offer for them to build a direct relationship one-to-one privately with you on Profila. But if you jump into each of your relationships,
0:30 you'll be able to see the signals that you created specific to that brand. This is also highly valuable to that brand because if they know that people are declaring specific intents, like you did in this case, for their services, and here I was looking for tickets for the Monza Grand Prix, that is a very clear intention of building a relationship with that brand. So this is part of you as a consumer, a customer, and an individual helping us to attract brands to the platform. So please vote for as many as you want
1:02 while you create a signal, or you can vote for brands here quite simply. Let's do one that I love in South Africa. Let's see if it's here, Nando's. There we go, Nando's is an external brand. Love their product. And in here, you define your relationship. So for me, it's a personal relationship and I don't really want to share any other information. I'll just say I'm a customer and vote for this brand to join Profila. And then what that does is we will, as a company, go and reach out to them as a brand
1:32 and then be able to invite them to the platform. Likewise, we can go in here as a consumer or a user and you can signal and then create content flow back in. If a brand is on Profila and you're connected to them, and these are some of our mock-up brands for your experience, let's click on one. This becomes a ledger. Okay, so this will show the entire history of your relationship with that brand on the platform. You can archive it, which means they no longer have any access to your anonymous intents.
2:05 Rather than disconnecting your relationship, it's rather archive it and put it on pause. But here, you can see the full relationship history and if you've created any signals, they will also show up here in the future. So for us, relationships are from you to many brands, but we're flipping the model where brands should be coming to you. And that is the premise of Profila is brands to serve you on your terms, but also to give you and the brand a private, quiet place without clutter and noise to build a real relationship.
Your data — What is kept, and what you can do with it
On desktop ·
Hide your details on screen, see everything held about you, download it, correct it, or delete the account at once. And the training data your yes-and-no answers create — yours to download.
0:00 Is profiler safe for your data? Well, we think so. We've built in every protection possible to be able to capture as minimal information about you as possible, but to give you the maximum reward. There will be another post around the actual architecture and technically how we're keeping things private, but in the platform, you have full control. Initially, you just capture very basic data about yourself and obviously you wanna hide it, but we don't capture actual dates of birth. We capture date ranges and locations of where you're living
0:33 so that people like brands can give you better services if they have a little bit of demographic context. But every function is here according to GDPR and compliance. So if you have a look at my data, it shows you every signal that you've created, every brand connection that you have, your brand votes, your survey answers, all of this is yours, okay? And this is a list of information that you've shared, but all you've shared with those brands is the intent to build a relationship. No personal data has been shared whatsoever,
1:05 but we are fully transparent in the data ownership. It is yours and you can do with it as you wish. You can download everything from the platform. You can correct your data by jumping back to your profile and you can also ask an administrator to update information for you. But you can give us feedback too if you'd like to simply delete your account. And this is a once off full deletion. So it's not a process in the backend. If you click delete now, it is deleted immediately from the platform. So we believe that everything that you create is yours
1:37 and you can take it and move it as you wish. A cool service which not many platforms have is every time you do click a yes or a no on the signal, and if I can remind you here briefly, go back to the home feed. Here you're helping train the tools behind the platform to serve you better content. So if you say the signal is yes or no, meaning good or bad, that trains the search algorithm which is a private one on the backend to go and find better data for you.
2:07 But that training data is yours and we aggregate the training data of everyone across the platform so that we can make the whole platform better. But that is quite useful for you in the future to be able to train your own AI if you wish. And we believe that it is yours. So if you come back to the profile, you'll be able to collect and see your own training data and I have 130 records, and in terms of what it is, this is an intent pair and it is actually valuable data. In the future, we'll be helping you to monetize that.
2:39 So Profila is safe. Don't take my word for it though. Read the documentation that we'll share. Hope you enjoy it.
On a bigger screen — Discover, on desktop
On desktop ·
The bigger screen adds Discover: signals other people chose to share, video channels, news you can read before you are tracked by the site, radio and podcasts — each with a Signal button.
0:00 So why we designed Profila to be cooler on desktop is because it's all about you. So if you've got an evening and you want to look at content, might as well look at content that is specific to your interests, because every signal is only matched with content from the web or from brands when they join the platform that you have asked for. In our previous videos, we went through how to create a signal, and then we'll show you how to refine a signal. But I'd like to show you some of the extra features that you get on the desktop experience under Discover.
0:33 So we will allow you to be able to see other people's searches if they have chosen to share them. So you can share signals on or off, and that means you'll see other people's signals who have agreed to share them. And all this is doing is search sharing. And I'll be able to go into somebody else's search without any information about them, but maybe they've got a great collection and a great search which yielded a lot of results and is of value to me. So yes, might as well make this my signal. What that does is it takes a signal
1:04 and puts it into your own, and then you'll be able to see that content only. No other personal data is ever shared, and it is totally private and anonymous. Under Discover, we also have other things for you to do. So we have video feeds that are ingested from your favorite channels. We've started with YouTube, but you can choose a channel on the right here and then be able to watch content. Only when you click the button, the feed itself is your IP address shared, which you can protect that even further if you use a VPN.
1:37 But everything that's displayed on the platform, we do everything we can to ensure that your personal data is protected. Nothing leaves the platform other than the IP address because you're streaming from that particular resource. And if you see anything interesting, you can create a signal. So if, say, I love this race, or I love this Ferrari event, or I want to go to the next Linkin Park event, I can click on it and get more information. It automatically creates a signal, and it sends you content it finds from the web related to that piece of media.
2:09 Likewise, for news. Here, what I've got is a list of RSS feeds, which are coming back in fashion for me, and we'll be expanding on that. Once you've clicked through on one and you've got the headlines, what we do is something a little bit extra is we extract the content. So instead of you being tracked as soon as you land on the page, you can have a quick read and see if this is something of interest to me, and then you can open the original or go and read the full article. But this is a way of browsing a newspaper or a magazine
2:41 and being able to extract the content, have a read of an article privately, and then jump back. And again, if you see something of interest, click on the signal, and it will go find anything on the web that it can around that specific topic. Because I love radio, we've done the same thing for radio. So you can choose your favorite radio station, and you can listen privately. Only your IP address is shared with some of the providers, and we're also looking at how we can protect this even further, and podcasts. So we've made this an immersive experience around you
3:15 and your content likes. Part of it is content from the web that you've searched and discovered. Part of it will be content from brands that you've invited to the platform. And the rest is fun discovery about content that you actually like in a private place. Zero tracking and surveillance and zero nudging algorithms. If you decide to switch off, there are no notifications even built into the platform because you decide when to come back. Hope you love it.
